Aid Goods and Donations

As of December 2011, there are 562 pregnant women and babies under one year of age in the Kisenkannnai area (Ofunato, Rikuzentakata and Sumida District) of which only 28% (156 people) are attending the workshops that we hold monthly.
Even after one year after the disaster, the public transport has not been re-established and other means of transport are insufficient for most people in the Kisenkannnai area (Ofunato, Rikuzentakata and Sumida district). Methods of communication are limited hence information does not reach people readily. We feel that within the 72% of mothers and babies who are not attending our workshops, there will be many who are seriously distressed mentally, emotionally and physically, as well as those in financial difficulties and those who are unable to reach us or any other form of support.
While continuing to hold our monthly workshops, we are hoping to extend our project by including voluntary home visits by midwives (many are living in temporary housing) and also to distribute aid goods to mothers with children, so that we can reach to those who are currently not able to attend the workshops.
For our work to be able to continue, support is essential. Your warm and generous support through understanding, through goods and through donation is very much appreciated.
Thank you very much.
